I'm totally green with envy right now. First I heard about
Felt Club, a monthly craft fair in LA.

Then there's
crafty wonderland, a monthly craft fair in Portland that everyone keeps talking about.

What's up Toronto? Where's our cool monthly craft fair? I really feel that our street cred as a cool indie craft locale is suffering if we can't keep up with the big kids....
And then there's the injustice of the fact that I will be out of town for the next fabulous
Crafternoon Tea, being held May 27. But just because I can't enjoy it, doesn't mean you shouldn't either. This one is going to be even more spectacular, with craft workshops, fabric and notion sale, raffle, who know what else! What are you waiting for, go mark your calenders!
What a fantastic name, though. Crafternoon Tea!!

I understand completely! I live in Calgary and we have nothing here. I have been thinking lately that it will be up to me to organize something.

Those craft fair logos are cute. I think a monthly craft fair would exhaust makers (and maybe consumers). A quarterly or event would be about right. I used to attend lots of craft fairs in Torotno but I am lazier in San Francisco. I missed Bizarre Bazaar (sniff) and I don’t attend Feria Urbana (ehh).

Thanks for the mention! We just had our first event on Saturday and it went swimmingly. Pix will be added to our site soon, but for now there’s our Flickr gallery:

It remains to be seen if vendors/shoppers become exhausted, but personally I think the time is right for something like this (at least, in LA– can’t speak for every city). Portland is hugely into the crafty scene too. The thing is, these fairs are smaller than the already-existing events, so there is less pressure to make 900 items and we rotate vendors month to month. Always something new and nobody gets burned out. That’s the idea, anyway.
BTW your blog is awesome, I’ve added it to my Bloglines.
