While on holiday, we stopped in Vancouver for about a day and a half. It was a very whirlwind visit, and there weren’t nearly enough meals in each day to go to all my favorite restaurants. However, I did accidentally discover my new favorite store in Vancouver (after dressew of course) while wandering on main street. The Regional Assembly of Text is a beautiful little shop with lots of interesting handmade things. Everything is so well designed, I think I manhandled every single item in the store as I was oohing and aahing over it all. They had buttons, little handmade books, t-shirts, calendars, quilted letter blocks, letter iron on patches……so many cute things! My favorite thing though was the wall of old metal file cabinets of various sizes behind the counter. Makes me think all those little drawers each hold amazing surprises!

They also have a button of the month club and a little book of the month club, and I think they host art events as well.

The other reason the store is so amazing is because my friend Jen told me that it was started by two graduates from Emily Carr, and it so nice to see people able to turn their arts and crafts talents into successful business ventures.

These pictures are from their website, but there are also some nice pictures, including one of the file cabinets, on this post at poppytalk.

The Regional Assembly of Text is now a must-see on my visits to Vancouver, and it should be on your itinerary too if are planning a visit. If you live in Vancouver and haven’t been there yet, well then shame on you!
