I know that I have posted about the Windy series before, but I couldn’t resist posting again after I recently bought Snowy and Chinook for my niece, just in case there is someone out there who hasn’t heard of these amazing books.

Created by Judith Steadman and Robin Mitchell, the stories are all illustrated with amazing little dioramas made from pipecleaner, origami, sticks, wool and everything else you could think of. And I’m not the only one who thinks they are great, because aparently they are my niece’s favorite books.

Not only are the books amazingly cute and loved by children, they are cool for adults too. Both Sunny and Snowy and Chinook come with a cd of original children’s songs played by great Vancouver musicians from bands like p:ano, The Secret Three, Destroyer, Veda Hille, and Sparrow. Ian has posted a song on popsheep that you can listen to. There is also a website called Windy and Friends that not only has several songs from the cds, but also activities and coloring pages to download, fun!
I have seen the books at Pages in Toronto and Zulu records in Vancouver, and you can also get them online at Buy Olympia.
The authors are also full of other talents, as Robin is behind picnic’s beautiful stationery

and Judith runs Steadman design, a book design company that has done lots of great books, including one of my favorite Douglas Coupland books, City of Glass
