Despite the looming pressure of the crazy amount of work that has to be done by the end of this term, or perhaps because of it, we have decided to take an impromptu trip to New York next week. While sometimes the thought of this trip causes intense stress at the thought of five whole days that will not be spent reading or researching for papers, at other times of delusion and denial, I am very excited about having a real vacation. We have been to New York one other time, four years ago now, and managed to cover most of the standard tourist destinations, including the major highlight of seeing the restaurant exterior used in Seinfeld. So you can tell, I am easily amused by small things. And that’s where you come in….
Because we haven’t had a lot of time to think about this trip, we don’t really know what we are going to do there. The one thing we didn’t get to do last time was the Museum of Arts and Design, and it is definately on my list this time. But if anyone else who lives in New York, or visits often, has suggestions of fun things to do and places to see, crafty or otherwise, let me know!

Look up a store called “Tender Buttons.” And go to the Garment District!
I haven’t been to NY in a few years, but my good friend Tom who is there always directs me to the right crafty places.
Have fun!
