hi, your site is great. thanks for all of the links too! well, somehow i have aquired a lot of thimbles from various time periods, different styles, etc. I am an mixed media artist and i have a lot of “interesting stuff”, i see the potential in everything, makes for interesting collections. I am tryng to think of ways to use the thimbles in art work. my favorite thing is to make presents for friends. i thought i could make little boxes, maybe collage etc. ring and jewelry boxes and put the thimble inside with a saying or poem or something. My question is i can’t find any good poems or positive sayings about thimbles to sort of use as a springboard for the idea. Does anyone have thoughts on this???thanks!!

hey – i taught myself to make books a bunch of years ago and i’ve been selling them at the farmer’s market in our town for three years now. one of the best, easiest books to learn from is ‘cover to cover’ by shereen laplantz. it’s well worth the purcahse – enjoy! (p.s. buying colorful waxed linen and gorgeous paper is as fun as yarn)

Hi, lurker alert. You should maybe check out http://www.ampersandduck.blogspot.com She teaches letterpress plus book binding at the Canberra school of art here in Australia, and makes beautiful stuff, plus has a lovely obsession with typesetting.

I just got a new book the other day that I think you’d enjoy. It combines bookbinding with sewing and fabric. “Fabric Art Journals – Making, Sewing, and Embellishing Journals from Cloth and Fibers” by Pam Sussman, Quarry Books. It has all sorts of delightful fabric books that I can’t wait to try out. Thanx for the links.
